Campaign Letter to Stop the Cruel and Barbaric Cull of brumbies

Please join us to demand the end to the cruel and unnecessary shooting of our Heritage brumbies protected by Law in Kosciouszko National Park, where 3,000 brumbies may live in 4 retention zones, chosen because of the heritage value of brumbies that live within those zones.

THE OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT COUNT of Brumbies produced a mind boggling range of 12,797 to 21,760 brumbies. A difference of nearly 9,000 horses, a margin of error that has been ridiculed in scientific circles and disproven by a Biostatistician’s report. Claire Galea, biostatistician produced a report which found the official Government Counts were not only flawed they are “unreliable”.

It is the Parks Managers duty to balance the management of the brumbies protected by Law with environmental issues as they arise within the Park. It is not the Parks Managers to cruelly shoot any living creature in the Park when there are non lethal alternatives that can be applied.

There are alternatives to managing brumbies including trapping and rehoming brumbies when numbers exceed the agreed 3,000 with the Scientific Advisory Panel, Community Advisory Panel and National Parks and Wildlife Services.

CAMPAIGN LETTER Please sign the below Campaign Letter, add some words to make it your own, but please send the letter today to ask the Premier Christoper Minns and Minister Sharpe to stop NPWS from its lethal management and cruelly shooting any more brumbies.

We must cease the insane cruelty, return to kinder management that includes rehoming, once a proper Count of Retention Zones is completed using an uptodate methodology with accurate numbers. Unless we do that now, how can we actually know how many brumbies live in Retention Zones.
